This is our general grants programme, making grants to a broad cross section of constituted groups involved in social welfare and community development activities.
When women’s organisations are well funded the whole community benefits. The Women’s Fund for Scotland exists to reach out to women everywhere, to bring them together and help them help themselves. The final deadline for applications to the Women’s Fund for Scotland for 2007/08 was 14th December 2007. No further applications will be accepted. More information about future opportunities will be available in March 2008.
Funding for intergenerational projects. Grants of £1,000 - £5,000 to support projects that help people develop relationships that span generations, enabling all age groups to participate in and contribute to community life. Please note that the deadline has now passed. We will be in touch will all applicants in due course. Final decisions will be announced on the 23rd May 2008.
Sport Relief was set up by Comic Relief and BBC Sport. It recognises that the power and passion of sport is a valuable tool in tackling poverty and disadvantage, both in the UK and in some of the world’s poorest countries. Grants of between £1,000 and £10,000 are available.
In order to make the most of its community-giving programme, Sky focuses its support on one area of need. After consultation with employees, customers and the wider community it was agreed that its priority should be helping young people between the ages of 11 and 21. The Sky Youth Action Fund will fund projects in geographical areas where their employees live and work: West Lothian, Fife, Motherwell, Falkirk, Airdrie, Shotts and Alloa. Applications from Edinburgh can also be considered with a letter of endorsement from a Sky employee. Please note that this programme is currently closed. Spurness (Sanday) Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund This is a new charitable fund to benefit residents of Sanday, one of the Orkney Islands. The fund is provided by Scottish and Southern Energy, the developer of the Spurness wind farm on the island to support a wide range of community projects and initiatives.
Drumderg Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund This is a new (Dec 2007) charitable fund to benefit residents of Alyth and the Glens of Strathardle and Glenshee in Eastern Perthshire. The fund is provided by Scottish and Southern Energy, the developer of the Drumderg Wind Farm.
The Earlsburn Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund is a new (Dec 07) charitable fund to benefit residents of the areas served by the two Community Councils of Carron Valley & District and Cambusbarron in the Stirling Council area and Denny & District Community Council in the Falkirk Council area.
The Kinross-shire Fund is dedicated to improving the quality of life of everyone who lives in the Kinross-shire community addressing local issues such as supporting the elderly and young people, community infrastructure and regeneration.
To support terminally ill individuals in Scotland, who wish to remain in their own homes throughout their illness. Please note that we are not accepting applications to this programme until further funding has been secured.
To date, most of our grantmaking has been in the form of one-off grants, usually awarding amounts up to £5,000. We will also now be making some larger and longer-term grants through the new Community Investment Programme. Grants made through this programme will reflect a strategic approach to achieving the Scottish Community Foundation’s vision of strong, successful Scottish communities.
Fair Share is an initiative to target lottery money at those parts of the UK that have not achieved their fair share of lottery funds in the past. It was developed jointly by the former New Opportunities Fund and the former Community Fund.
Assisting community organisations and charities supporting people affected by cancer, and to those working in the field of sport, rugby in particular. Extra priority is given to organisations working with young people.
